Rebecca Obenschain

My name is Rebecca and I am so glad you have found my site! From an early age I was interested in a wide variety of art forms. A joke among my friends is that I have tried everything - even underwater basket weaving! (That is not entirely true as I have done basket weaving, but was not underwater at the time.) Two of my favorite pastimes are drawing and creative writing. Before I went to college, I had almost ten years of art instruction. Then, I received a degree in English with a Creative Writing minor. Now, as a photographer, I combine my two loves in yet another form of art.

As you may be aware, the word "photography," when translated from its Greek roots, literally means "light drawing." To me, this is a wonderful way of looking through the lens of my camera. Before photography came on the scene, people commissioned great paintings for their homes and those same paintings are valued even today. When I take a picture, I want to create something beautiful that you and your family will cherish for years to come.

In addition to just giving you a pretty picture, which is the focus of many photographers, my goal is for your images to be more than the sum of their parts. The phrase "a picture is worth a thousand words," which inspired the name of my business, accurately communicates the value of good photos. Every person, couple, and family has a story worth writing down (and writing well). When looking through your pictures, you should be taken into the story again and again. You should enjoy every re-telling of your story just as you might enjoy re-reading your favorite book.

With all of that being said, anyone can throw paint on a canvas or words on a page. However, not everyone can paint a masterpiece or write the next best-seller. In my work, I aim to give you a vibrant look at your story through the images I produce.
